In what could possibly be the greatest advertisement never, ever, NEVER to get a Kindle Paperwhite – and just read from a book made from trees like we’ve done since the dawn of man – there’s a nifty, over-engineered function that allows you to click on a character’s name on a page, and ostensibly it should give you a sentence of some very basic info on who this person is.
It often drifts into melodrama, especially the female characters who are all drawn quite hysterical. Do they circle like flies, irritating you with incessant buzzing before finally landing on The Point? They traveled abroad and returned in I’m not very far in and will probably have to start over gahbut I need someone to like in this book. As it went on, a lot of knkiga characters turned out to be mere caricatures–predictable, and with no real growth, surprises, or insights.
The Brothers Karamazov is just another novel that served as an excuse for a Russian writer to drown you in their philosophical ideas about politics and religion. I believe most people would be uncomfortable with giving publicly criticism to classics. I could not stand the ending Well, I hated this less, I’ll give those misguided book recommenders that.
I gave up on this book awhile ago because I disliked every single character and didn’t care to find out what happened to them.
I haven’t completed all of FD’s laramazovi, but everything else I’ve read by him I have found tremendous. Never too Late to Crime and Punishment is one of my top five fave fictional works.
