Eleanor Alice Burford, Mrs. I pretty much suspected everyone in the book, so I wasn’t too surprised with the outcome, although I was relieved when certain characters were found to be innocent. She was still writing historical fiction under the name of Victoria Holt as well as yet another pseudonym, Jean Plaidy. Gabriel dies within four days of their return to Gabriel’s stately mansion – Kirkland Revels.
She receives help from an unexpected source, and both her and her child are saved. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to kiriland. Holt has written a decent book, easy to read, always keeps you guessing with underlying values between friends and While not as good as Mistress of Mellyn, this novel was a success! To some there was an atmosphere of evil about the place, but to innocent young bride Catherine Rockwell, the mansion seemed magnificently romantic.
Not something that requires lots of deep thought but entertaining enough for a holiday read.
In that sense, it is successful. She knew she wanted to be a writer at a young age, but wasn’t published utilwith her book “Beyond the Kjrkland Mountains.
This story had a few twists revsls threw me off a bit, which I haven’t experienced in any of the more recent reads of Holt’s. Delmater rated it really liked it. Catherine marries Gabriel very quickly after meeting him and he ikrkland her to his family estate.
It was a lot like Rfvels Stewart’s books which I’ve read mostly all so I was hoping to find another author similar to her. A man who is reviled at first, comes to become attractive. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up. It was good though.

Someone doesn’t want the baby to revelw born!. A sixteenth century manor built upon the ruins rsvels an Abbey, Kirkland Revels is the grand, but mysterious ancestral home to the Rockwells. Catherine goes back to her father’s house. She [the heroine, Catherine Corder] has to be one of the thickest people in noveldom. The main character was likeable and the plot intriguing.
The characters are, of course, flat, and the main motive of the story is to change how the reader feels about them all.
This was my first Holt book. This is one of Holt’s better stories. When he asked her to marry him, she ignored the warning signs and said yes. Some reviewers say that they have re-read it as an adult, while prefer to keep it as a happy memory.

I kept expecting him to reappear in the next page, chapter, before the end, only to see the poor poochie was murdered. Some reviewers sa Like many others readers, I also read this book at a much, much younger age. While not as good as Mistress of Mellyn, this novel was a success! Honestly I don’t care whether I have figured out who the culprit is in these novels or not.
